5 BASIC

5 Basic Elements

installation, metal, plaster, pigment, nigella seeds, coconut, 230 × 140 × 40 cm

The installation consists of five vertical metal rods placed against a wall. At first glance, the work appears minimalist and quiet. Only when the viewer approaches and looks down do five spheres become visible, each attached to the base of a rod. Each sphere contains an opening filled with pigment — yellow, blue, red, as well as black and white. It is in this act of approaching and changing perspective that the work reveals its full potential.

The title “5 Basic Elements” refers to the fundamental components from which all colors and shades emerge. At the same time, the work can be read as a metaphor for human relationships — only through closeness and intimacy can true understanding occur.

On another level, the installation reflects a return to simplicity — a withdrawal from the turbulence and excess of contemporary life, a re-engagement with the foundations and essential principles of perception. In this sense, 5 Basic Elements unites the purity of form and idea, translating the basic tenets of color theory into a subtle wall installation.
